Lucy Sherston

'A sense of place; Initially I struggled with this theme, as I'm not sure I have a sense of place. However, I am very aware I have the luxury of choice - I can move wherever I want, I can explore and maybe one day find my place. One of the things that struck me most when thinking about the theme of borders is the judgement I see from so many British people. The sense of entitlement about those fleeing war, regardless of the random act of luck that they were born here and not there. The hand in the illustration is a calm relief- grounding itself on the pebbles of Brighton beach- remaining steady and figuring things out within this noise.'
