Benjamin Phillips

When I think of A Sense of Place I think of home. Conjuring ideas and memories, many of which sit in opposition with each other. In my adolescence the thought of living somewhere foreign was very appealing especially when romanticising my ancestors that had been brave enough to move overseas and start new lives in unfamiliar lands. In this work I explore elements of my heritage and the narrative that has lead me to make my home in Hastings.
